The first wheelchair marathon was in 1974 in Toledo, Ohio. Many marathons now feature a wheelchair racing division.
Starting in 2009, Tatyana has participated in marathon wheelchair division races. In 2013, she took all the major wins; the NYC Marathon, the Chicago Marathon, the Boston Marathon & the London Marathon, Becoming the first man or woman, able-bodied or disabled, to win 4 major marathons in the same year – collectively referred to as the Grand Slam.
