TatyanaBalloonsU.S. Paralympic Athlete Tatyana McFadden is competing in the TCS New York City Marathon on Sunday, Nov. 1. She is the only person to win all four major marathons in one year: London, Boston, Chicago and New York City.

Tatyana spent the first six years of her life in an orphanage in Saint Petersburg, Russia. Born with a condition known as spina bifida, it was a miracle she even survived in those conditions, learning to walk on her hands in the absence of a wheel chair.

“I was a very independent person,” said Tatyana. “If i wanted to get there I would get there, and the only way to do that was to walk on my hands.” VIEW VIDEO
